Recently, DEKRA granted its global first ASPICE CL2 certificate to Black Sesame Technologies (“Black Sesame”), a leading provider of autonomous driving computing chip, specializing in advanced R&D of high computing power chips and platforms. With DEKRA ASPICE CL2 approval, Black Sesame has become one of the first vehicle-regulation-level product suppliers for autonomous driving computing chip and platform R&D.
Mr. Weihong Liu, Co-founder and COO of Black Sesame, and Mr. Gerhard Rieger, Senior Vice President of DEKRA DIGITAL Global Functional Safety, attended the ceremony on site. Meanwhile, Mr. Ganesh Kumar, DEKRA ASPICE & Functional Safety Principal Consultant, and Mr. Kevin Huang, DEKRA Global Functional Safety and Cyber Security Manager, joined the ceremony online.
Automotive Software Process Improvement and Capacity Determination (ASPICE) is a model framework for assessing the R&D capability of software development team in the automotive industry, and one of the joint standards between ISO and IEC. ASPICE assesses the process capability of automotive electronic embedded software system project based on the model of Automotive SPICE PAM/PRM. It can be used to verify the initial tagged bit and goal of internal process improvement of R&D organization to provide guideline for high-level software development process. ASPICE is now globally recognized as the most valued certificate for software development.
In September 2020, Black Sesame released FAD, a fully autonomous driving computing platform with a capacity up to 116TOPS-232TOPS and integrating functions like sensing, positioning, sensor fusion, route planning and vehicle control. It satisfies the demands of complete L2+/L3 autonomous driving scenarios including TJP (Traffic Jam Pilot), HWP (Highway Pilot) and CP (Car Park Pilot). Based on FAD, the built-in RTOS is developed by Black Sesame with independent intellectual property rights. Featured by high reliability and being highly real-time, RTOS has complete application system, helping autonomous driving technology put into commercial application in a safe and reliable way. This time, DEKRA experts have conducted review for Black Sesame’s FAD platform empowered by Huashan No.2 A1000 autonomous driving computing chip, as well as built-in self-developed RTOS project within the scope of ASPICE VDA. The review shows Black Sesame’s product has reached leading level in the aspects of system development, software design and management.
Mr. Weihong Liu, Co-founder and COO of Black Sesame, said: “As a long-term participant in the field of vehicle-regulation-level autonomous driving computing chip of high-performance computing, Black Sesame understands the importance of quality for client’s delivery. Black Sesame is the first domestic artificial intelligence chip manufacturer that has obtained FSP Certification, Functional Safety Process Certification and Certificate of Conformity. This time we have been awarded the ASPICE CL2 certificate from DEKRA with the professional consultation support of EAST Consulting’s ASPICE team, which once again certifies that Black Sesame has established a comprehensive R&D and quality control system.
