ISO/TS 22163

With increasing deregulation of railway networks, rolling stock manufacturers and other rail suppliers worldwide are faced with new challenges in quality management. Fortunately there’s a solution: certification to the International Railway Industry Standard (IRIS), a globally recognized standard for evaluating management systems that’s unique to the railway sector. This is a decisive criterion when selecting suppliers.
Acting on the initiative of a number of railway vehicle manufacturers, the Association of the European Rail Industry (UNIFE) established the International Railway Industry Standard, IRIS. In it UNIFE amended the international quality management standard ISO 9001 to incorporate the specific requirements of the rail industry.
