Malaysia MCMC Cancelled 3400-3700 MHz Band Class Assignment
The Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) previously issued a notice on June 1, 2024, announcing the cancellation of the Class Assignment for Fixed-Satellite Service Earth Station(s) and Ultra-Wideband (UWB) Communication Device(s) that operate in the 3400-3700 MHz frequency band. As of June 1, 2025, the usage of any equipment or devices in the 3400-3700 MHz is no longer allowed.
Thailand NBTC To Terminate Type Approval and Import of 2G and 3G Only Devices
The National Broadcasting and Telecommunications Commission (NBTC) of Thailand issued an announcement on June 9, 2025, informing that starting June 30, 2025, importation and the issuance of inspection and certification marks for telecommunications equipment and devices using only 2G and 3G technologies will be prohibited.
India TEC Publishes Criteria for Certification of Telecom Equipment Under MTCTE
The India Telecommunication Engineering Centre (TEC) published the Criteria for certification of Telecom Equipment having specialized test requirements under MTCTE on June 2, 2025. Routers, LAN Switches, DWDM Equipment, Satellite Communication Equipment, and Infiniband Switches, must meet certain criteria in order to be issued a provisional certificate under MTCTE.
Indonesia Komdigi Publishes IMT Technical Standards for Telecom Equipment and Wireless Devices
Kementerian Komunikasi dan Digital (Komdigi) of Indonesia published Decree No. 204 of 2025, Technical Standards for Telecommunication Equipment and/or Broadband Wireless Access Telecommunication Devices Based on International Mobile Telecommunications Technology Standards 2020. The Decree includes the technical standard for the BWA 5G n50 band (1432-1517 MHz – TDD) for Subscriber Station and Base Station. This Decree was published on May 23, 2025, and is now in effect.
Chile SUBTEL Issues Exempt Resolution No. 737
Subsecretaría de Telecomunicaciones (SUBTEL) in Chile published Resolución 737 Exenta on May 22, 2025, which modifies Resolución N° 1985 Exenta de 2017 on Technical standards for short range devices (SRDs). Beginning February 22, 2026, SUBTEL will no longer issue approval certificates for Low Power Devices (LPDs), with the exception of MICS. Instead of a certificate, manufacturers or local importers must include a QR code (minimum size 1 cm x 1cm ) on the packaging of every product which leads to a Spanish language website featuring product and manufacturer information, technical specifications, test report(s) and a declaration of conformity specifically drafted for Chilean regulations. Resolución 737 Exenta will come into effect on February 22, 2026.
