Australia ACMA Updates Radiofrequency Spectrum Plan
The Australian Communications and Media Authority (ACMA) published the Australian Radiofrequency Spectrum Plan Variation 2025 (No. 1) on October 2, 2025, which updates the Australian Radiofrequency Spectrum Plan 2021.
Brazil ANATEL Updates Technical Requirements and Test Procedures for Restricted Radiation Radiocommunication Equipment
The Agência Nacional de Telecomunicações (ANATEL) in Brazil published Ato N° 14.158 on October 1, 2025. This new Act approves updates to Ato N° 14.448/2017 on Technical Requirements for Conformity Assessment of Restricted Radiation Radiocommunication Equipment; and Ato N° 237/2022 on Test Procedures for Conformity Assessment of Restricted Radiation Radiocommunication Equipment. These updates include the adjustments to the requirements applicable to:
- Devices operating in millimeter-wave bands
- Wireless access systems operating in the 5.150 to 5.350 MHz band
- Audio, video, or other application transmission systems
- Specific test procedures for broadband wireless access systems for local area networks
Mexico IFT Stops Operations
The Instituto Federal de Telecomunicaciones (IFETEL) has stopped operations on October 17, 2025 already. The transition period between IFETEL and the Comisión Reguladora en Telecomunicaciones (CRT) will take at least 1 week as they receive feedback on new and current approvals. Type Approval delays may occur.
Iraq CMC Publishes SRD and UWB Regulation
The Communications and Media Commission (CMC) of Iraq published the Regulation for Short-Range Radio Devices (SRDs) and Devices Using Ultra Wideband (UWB) Technology on September 29, 2025. This new Regulation opens the 6 GHz band (5945-6425 MHz) for Wi-Fi 6E and Wi-Fi 7.
Jordan TRC Issues Instructions No. 2 for Telecom Equipment Approval
The Telecommunications Regulation Commission (TRC) of The Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan published Instructions No. 2 of 2025 – Conditions Instructions on Procedures for obtaining approval to import telecommunications equipment and communications devices on September 16, 2025. Updates to these guidelines include:
- A 1-year validity period for new applications from local companies who obtain type approval on behalf of other companies.
- A 1-year validity period for renewal applications starting from the new certificate’s date of issuance.
- An expanded list of exempt products including:
o Scanners, data show, and projectors that do not include high-power radio communication functions or parts.
o Lap tops without high-power radio communication functions or parts.
o Wireless mouse, wireless keyboard, wireless headset (Wi-Fi, bluetooth), wireless charger, cables and cords, empty cabins, remote short-range control using infra-red, hard discs and storage devices, GPS navigation devices, without any high-power radio communication functions or parts, and electronic parts for production without any radio communication functions or parts.
o Lap tops without high-power radio communication functions or parts.

Philippines Halts 2G/3G Equipment Certification
On August 28, 2025, the National Telecommunications Commission (NTC) of the Philippines announced the discontinuation of 2G and 3G mobile network services (effective 15 days after the announcement), requiring all public telecommunications operators to gradually phase out 3G services nationwide by December 31, 2026. The relevant product certification regulations are as follows:
- 60 days after the announcement takes effect, type approval for devices supporting only 2G/3G will be prohibited;
- Devices supporting only 2G/3G that have already been certified shall be marked in the NTC license database as objects for phased decommissioning;
- Coordinate with manufacturers, distributors/retailers, and suppliers to prohibit the import and sale of 2G/3G devices.
