Egypt Issues AV and ICT Equipment Safety Standard
Egypt published Ministerial Decree No. 7 of 2025, which provides a 6-month transitional period to producers and importers to abide by the Egyptian Standard ES 2501-1 for safety requirements of audio/video, information and communication technology equipment. This standard adopts the technical content of IEC 62368-1/2023, and cancels and supersedes Egyptian Standard ES 2501.
South Africa ICASA Delays Expected
Independent Communications Authority of South Africa (ICASA) is currently expecting delays for applications due to intermittent outages of the online portal. ICASA is actively working to return stability to the online portal system and backlog of certificates so that applications may be prioritized.

Brazil ANATEL Clarifies 5150-5350 MHz Definitions for Vehicle Applications
The Agência Nacional de Telecomunicações (ANATEL) in Brazil published Ofício nº 81/2025/ORCN/SOR-ANATEL on March 12, 2025, which clarifies the definition of “Closed environment (indoor)” for the 5150-5350 MHz frequency band for the Technical Requirements for Conformity Assessment of Restricted Radiation Radiocommunication Equipment in motorcycles, Tuk-Tuk, and convertible cars.
Indonesia Komdigi Issues Decree no. 45 & 46 of 2025
Kementerian Komunikasi dan Digital (Komdigi) of Indonesia issued Decree No. 45 of 2025 concerning Technical Standards for Telecommunication Equipment and/or Cellular Mobile Telecommunication Devices Based on Global System for Mobile Communications and International Mobile Telecommunications-2000 Technology Standards on February 18, 2025. Updates to the Technical Standards include an additional 850 MHz frequency band for GSM. Test reports issued referencing PERDIRJEN SDPPI No. 5 may still be used provided they do not conflict with the provisions laid out in the Technical Standards. The Decree comes into effect 6 months after the stipulation date, on August 18, 2025.
At the same day (Komdigi) issued Decree No. 46 of 2025 concerning Radio Frequency Spectrum Based on Class Permits and Technical Standards for Wireless Power Transmission (WPT). This Decree is now in effect, and the Technical Standards for WPT outlined in Decree No. 260 of 2024 concerning Technical Standards for Short-Range Devices (SRDs) have been revoked and declared invalid.
Vietnam MST Allows 5925-6425 MHz for WLAN
The Ministry of Science and Technology (MST) of Vietnam issued Circular No. 01/2025/TT-BKHCN on March 31, 2025, which amends and supplements Circular 08/2021/TT-BTTTT. Major updates include opening the 6 GHz band (5925-6425 MHz) for WLAN/RLAN devices, and adjusting the frequency band for wireless charging devices to 315-400 kHz. This Circular will come into effect on May 15, 2025.
