Tanzania Published Technical Specifications for DAB+ Receivers
Recently, the Tanzania Communications Regulatory Authority (TCRA) published the Minimum Technical Specifications for Digital Audio Broadcasting (DAB+) receivers. The new regulation came into effective from the date of publication, and detailed the requirements for domestic, portable and automotive DAB receivers to be used in Tanzania.
Chile Publishes Law on Universal Mobile Chargers
The Ministerio de Economía, Fomento y Turismo in Chile published Ley 21695 on October 10, 2024, which establishes a universal charger for various mobile phones and IT devices. According to this new Law, those that sell mobile devices must offer consumers chargers that may be purchased separately and are not mandatory to be purchased together. Additionally, sellers must inform consumers whether a charger is included with the purchase of the mobile device. A grace period of 2 years will be established for cell phones to be marketed according to the new regulations, and a 4 years grace period will be established for other mobile devices.
Thailand NBTC establish new technical standard for Digital Broadcasting Radio Receiver
On 31st October 2024 Thailand NBTC had announced on establish new technical standard for Digital Broadcasting Radio Receiver: - NBTC BS 3004-2567 Digital Broadcasting Radio Receiver.
Effective date: For digital broadcasting radio receivers installed in new vehicle: 1 year (October 31, 2025) ; For other digital broadcasting radio receivers: 120 days from announcement date (February 28, 2025).
Summary of the announcement
1. Traditional FM/AM receivers (without digital (DAB) receiver) do not require approval now. And after technical standard is effective, they will not require approval, too.
2. FM/AM/DAB receivers do not require approval now. But after technical standard is effective, they will require NBTC SDoC.
3. For conformity assessment (SDoC) for digital receiver, NBTC can accept test reports from oversea test lab (either from accredited or non-accredited lab or manufacturer) without required samples/local testing. However, please pay attention to some Thailand only requirements such as product must support Thai Profile to display in Thai language, user’s manual shall be in Thai (in addition, English user’s manual may be provided, too). So test report shall contain full requirements based on NBC technical standard. For more details, please refer to draft standard in above link. 4. NBTC has 2 main different departments:
4.1 Telecommunication department: This department approve class B, class A, and SDoC for WWAN/RFID/Wifi/Bluetooth/etc.
4.2 Broadcasting department: This new notification is issued from this broadcasting department.
So it becomes that if product is with Wifi/Bluetooth (telecommunication) and DAB digital radio receiver (Broadcasting), it will require 2 SDoCs 1) SDoC from telecommunication department (for wifi/bluetooth function) and 2) SDoC from broadcasting department (for DAB receiver function). Both SDoCs will be process separately with separate cost and DoCumentation process. 2 SDoCs will be issued.

Kuwait 3G Network Cessation
On 1st September 2024, The Communication and Information Technology Regulatory Authority (CITRA) of Kuwait published Resolution number 2024/278 regarding 3G Network Cessation.

Vietnam MIC Publishes EMC Standard for UHF Devices
The Ministry of Information and Communication (MIC) of Vietnam has published Circular No. 13/2024/TT-BTTTT, “National technical regulation on electromagnetic compatibility for land mobile radio equipment and terrestrial radio trunking” on October 25, 2024. This Circular introduces the new RF EMC standard QCVN 100:2024/BTTTT for UHF devices, and it will come into effect on January 1, 2025.
