Malaysia SIRIM / MCMC Wireless Announcement: RENEWAL OF CERTIFICATE OF CONFORMITY (COC) THAT HAS EXPIRED FOR MORE THAN SIX MONTHS
Malaysia SIRIM CMCS (MCMC / Wireless Division) had announced that due to enhancement made to the e-ComM system involving the renewal of the Certificate of Conformity (CoC). All CoCs that have been expired for more than six (6) months will now be automatically blocked or suspended for renewal.
In adherence to clause 4.3 of the Certification Agreement eTAC/DOC/01-1, the system will automatically suspend the CoC with prior notice from SIRIM QAS International if it has expired for more than six (6) months. In the event that no action is taken by the Certificate Holder within fourteen (14) working days from the suspension date of the CoC, the CoC shall be recommended to the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) for cancellation without further notice to the Certificate Holder.
However, impacted applicants are given a grace period of 30 days from the date of this announcement to proceed with renewal applications. If no action is taken within this 30-day period, the approved Type Approval application will be closed, and the impacted model shall be subjected to a new Type Approval application before it may be imported.

Saudi Arabia
Saudi Arabia (SASO) issued new SASO EMC regulation
The Saudi Arabian Standards Organization (SASO) has issued a new SASO EMC regulation, which lists 84 EMC standards and 46 HS Codes. All products, covered by the listed on the regulation, should go through conformity assessment procedures, which requires the supplier’s declaration of conformity.
The products as follows are excluded from the scope of the regulation:
(1) Radio Equipment and Telecommunication Terminal Equipment (R&TTE)
(2) Aeronautics and aviation products and spare parts
(3) Communications equipment used by amateurs
(4) Medical equipment
(5) Equipment with the following physical characteristics
1) Equipment which is unable to generate or contribute to electromagnetic emissions exceeding the permissible level for radio equipment and telecommunications and other equipment to operate as intended
2) Equipment which is not affected by the presence of electromagnetic interference that normally results from normal use.
(6) Electronic panels designed for experts which are used directly for research development purpose
The new regulation becomes effective on May 17, 2024, and mandatory on November 17, 2024.

India
India (BIS) published Registration Guidelines RG:01
The Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) published Registration/Guidelines RG:01 on 9th January 2024, regarding the Guidelines for implementation of Parallel Testing for products covered under Electronics and Information technology Goods (Requirements of Compulsory registration Order), 2021.
Main points are as below:
1) Previously parallel testing was only allowed for mobile phone, wireless headphone/earphone and Laptop/Notebook/Tablet as a pilot scheme, now it has been converted into a permanent scheme and is applicable for all electronic products covered under the Compulsory Registration Scheme (CRS) of BIS.
2) These guidelines are voluntary in nature and the manufacturers will still have option for submitting application sequentially to BIS for registration as per the existing procedure.
3) All the components which require Registration under CRS can be sent for testing in parallel at any of BIS labs /BIS recognized labs. Under parallel testing, the lab will test the first component & issue test report. This test report no. along with name of lab will be mentioned in the test report of second component. This procedure will be followed for subsequent components & final product also. The registration of the components will be done sequentially by BIS.

India issues notification extending exemption from TEC testing parameters
The Telecommunication Engineering Centre (TEC) of India published notification on 8th January 2024, which announced that a generic exemption for test parameters/Interfaces pertaining to various ERs under MTCTE has been extended up to 30th June 2024 or till further orders.
