On November 21st, New Taipei City mayor Hou You-yi visited the Linkou IoT Lab of DEKRA, the world’s largest unlisted expert organization in the TIC (testing, inspection, certification) industry.

“I would like to thank international DEKRA group for choosing Linkou to develop the testing, inspection and certification of electronics, and even invest more in Linkou for establishing the new headquarter. New Taipei City government has helped DEKRA to get the construction license, and we will keep supporting DEKRA until the headquarter is finished and ready to be used!” On November 21st, New Taipei City mayor Hou You-yi visited the Linkou IoT Lab of DEKRA, the world’s largest unlisted expert organization in the TIC (testing, inspection, certification) industry, with the companion of the commissioner of New Taipei City Government Economic Development Department Amy Ho, commissioner of New Taipei City Government Information Department Jiang Zhi-wei, New Taipei city council member Cai Shu-jun, Chief of New Taipei City Government Economic Development Department Investment Division Lin Fang-liang.
With the introductions by DEKRA Vice President of Finance & Administration Div. Dave Wu, Director of EMC Dept. Vincent Lin and Senior Director of Connectivity Elvis Chen, Hou visited the most representative labs of DEKRA: 966 EMC Lab, RF Testing Lab, and Conformance LTE Lab. He was surprised about a single lab which costs almost 10 million TWD and a single testing instrument that costs 30 to 50 million TWD. “So one of the 5G testing instruments you’re going to invest will cost more than 100 million!” He said.
Hou stated, he’s not so familiar with TIC industry, but he was quite touched when he saw the LED screens of all labs were displaying “occupied”. “It represents that the electrical and electronic industry in Taiwan still grows, and it needs such a professional third-party TIC organization like DEKRA to assist them to speed up the time to market for their products! Also, it shows the amount of the labs in DEKRA is not enough for fulfill the clients’ needs anymore!” Hou expressed again his gratitude for DEKRA’s extra huge amount of investment in Linkou to establish the new headquarter and labs. “It will not only create economic value but also brings local job opportunities!” Hou emphasized, New Taipei City will play a more positive role in economic development in the future, and will also help DEKRA to remove all obstacles and give the full support of the new headquarter of DEKRA, which is now under construction and covers an area of 3,300 square meters.
DEKRA’s branches are around the globe, with a workforce of more than 45,000 people in around 60 countries on all five continents. In 2018, the yearly revenue of DEKRA is more than 110 billion TWD.
