The Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) of China published an announcement on May 8, 2026, sharing that MIIT approved the license for the use of 6G experimental frequencies in the 6 GHz band for technical research and development. MIIT has allocated the 6425-7125 MHz frequency band for IMT use, including 5G and 6G systems.
China CQC Household Appliance Standards To Come Into Effect
The China Quality Certification Centre (CQC) previously published a notice on January 8, 2025, announcing the implementation of the national standards on household appliances.
- GB 4343.1-2024 – Electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) requirements for household appliances and power tools Part 1: Emission came into effect on June 1, 2026.
- GB/T 4706.1-2024 – National standard and special requirements supporting mandatory certification of household appliances will come into effect on August 1, 2026.
Sri Lanka TRCSL Pauses Issuing Exemption Letters
The Telecommunications Regulatory Commission of Sri Lanka (TRCSL) has paused processing exemption requests and issuing exemption letters.
India BIS Revises Validity and Continuation Requirements under Scheme-II Licenses
The Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) published an update revising provisions on validity and license operation continuation under Scheme-II. This revision updates certificate validity from 2 years to 5 years, with annual fees. Renewals area also granted for 5 years, with annual fees. Payment for annual fees not received by the due date may result in suspension, deferment, cancellation, and/or expiry of the license.
Nigeria NCC Allows Wi-Fi 6E Technology
The Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) published a framework in January 2026 for the use of the lower part of the 6 GHz (5925-6425 MHz) frequency band in Nigeria. The 5925-6425 MHz band is now designated for license-exempt WLAN operations, and supports the deployment of Wi-Fi 6 and Wi-Fi 6E technologies.
